Markatasana (Monkey Yoga Pose)
In the Sanskrit language the meaning of word “Markat” is monkey so this Asana or pose named as Markatasana or Monkey pose. This is a great Asana for improving your spine flexibility and it is beneficial for the digestive system. Markatasana is best for strong hip-opening along with back bending actions. Markatasana may be an easy reclining twist that emphasizes relaxation and intentional respiration.
How To Do Markatasana (Monkey Yoga Pose)
Step 1 :
Lie down straight on your back.
Spread both hands at the level of your shoulders and keep palms open.
Step 2 :
Now fold your right leg and while breathing in (inhaling) turn to the left side as much as you can.
Step 3 :
Turn your neck to the right side and hold this position for few seconds.
Step 4 :
Now while exhaling (Breathing out) come to the starting position.
Do with other side 10-20times

- Those People who are suffering from severe back pain do not perform this asana.
- People who are suffering with hernia; should practice this Asana under the expert of yoga and doctor also.
