Padmasana (Lotus position)
Padmasana, also known as the Lotus position, is a cross-legged yoga posture that aids in the deepening of meditation by calming the mind and alleviating a variety of physical ailments. A regular practise of this posture, like a lotus, aids in the overall blossoming of the practitioner, hence the name Padmasana.
How To Do Padmasana (Lotus position)
Step 1
Sit on the floor or on a mat with legs stretched out in front of you while keeping the spine erect.
Step 2
Bend the right knee and place it on the left thigh. Make sure that the sole of the feet point upward and the heel is close to the abdomen.
Now, repeat the same step with the other leg.
Step 3
With both the legs crossed and feet placed on opposite thighs, place your hands on the knees in mudra position.
Step 4
Keep the head straight and spine erect.
Hold and continue with gentle long breaths in and out.

Cautions of Padmasana (Lotus position)
- If you have knee or ankle injuries, you should avoid this pose.
