Vrikshasana
Vrikshasana or Tree Pose is most popular balancing asana. It is one of the very few standing poses in medieval hatha yoga, and remains popular in modern yoga as exercise.
How To Do Vrikshasana
Step 1
Stand straight with arms by the side of your body. Bend your right knee and place the right foot high up on your left thigh.
Step 2
Make sure that your left leg is straight. Find your balance.
Step 3
Once you are well balanced, take a deep breath in, gracefully raise your arms over your head from the side, and bring your palms together in ‘Namaste’ mudra (hands-folded position).
Step 4
Gently bring your hands down from the sides with a slow exhalation. You may gently let go of the right leg.
As you did at the start of the posture, stand tall and straight. Repeat with the left leg lifted off the ground and resting on the right thigh.
