On April 21st 2024, The Patanjali Japan Foundation (PJF) conducted their 46th Monthly Interactive Session successfully. This month’s IS is focused on yoga for stress management which was very engaging having many more new attendees.
The session was beautifully presented by Varada sensei and Genboku sensei at 8:00 AM JST and was joined by numerous attendees and other experts.
Light on the discussion of “Yoga For Stress Management”
Stress is indeed a part of life, but it can be controlled with the help of yoga which we discussed in this session. This will help you to take good control over your health.
In this session, we have covered all the important aspects and questions which we or a common man can point out or suffer in daily life. The complete video is available on YouTube:
Practical Measures for Stress Management
Asanas (Yoga Postures): Gentle and mindful yoga postures help to release tension in the body, improve flexibility, and enhance blood flow. There are some specific postures known for their stress-relieving properties properly explained by them.
- Marjarasana
- Balasana
- Legs-Up-the-Wall Pose (Viparita Karani)
Pranayama (Breathing Exercises): Our breath is very powerful for regulating our nervous system. The session also briefed various other breathing techniques like diaphragmatic breathing that can calm the mind and reduce anxiety.
- Alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana)
- Ujjayi breathing
- Bhramari
Meditation: Meditation practices can help us to focus and develop awareness of the present moment. This helps in managing our stress levels by allowing us to step away from worries and anxieties.
Discussions
The session ended with a 20-minute discussion amongst the attendees on the following topics/questions, to clarify their learnings from the session:
- What happens when you get stressed?
- How do you handle your stress?
- Why do we get stressed?
Attendees are keen on making yoga a part of their daily lives, especially given how easy it is to practice the above asanas without any special space.
